Keeping clean

As part of off keeping healthy we have been learning about keeping clean.
We have been talking about remembering to ways our hands carefully so that we don’t spread germs. We have also talked about having a shower or a bath. which one do you like best? Horace the horse came into school to tell us all about how to keep our teeth clean and healthy.

Always remember to:-

Clean them every morning and night
Eat lots of fruit and vegetables
Only eat sweets after a meal for a treat
Milk and water are the only drinks good for our teeth. (Remember fizzy drinks have lots of sugar)

Keeping fit.

This week as part of the schools keeping healthy week we have been exercising around school. We have talked about how we keep fit at home and what happens to our body when we excersise. How our heart beats fast, we get out of breath and feel hot and tired.

Talk about the importance of keeping our heart health by exercising at home. What exercise can you do together as a family?

Horace the Horse

We had a visit from Horace the Horse and Debbie from the Oral Health team this afternoon. Debbie talked to us about when we should clean our teeth and the different types of foods and drinks that help keep our teeth healthy and the ones that we should have less of. We all then took turns to use the small mirror to look at Horace’s teeth and used the toothbrush to clean his teeth.
Can you remember when we should clean our teeth?
How many teeth do you have? Can you count them? Talk to your grown ups at home about the foods that keep our teeth healthy and the foods and drinks we should try and have after dinner.

Keeping Healthy

It’s our whole school Keeping Healthy week and we have been busy in nursery learning different ways to keep healthy. We have been keeping our heart healthy by exercising and today we have been thinking about a healthy diet. We have been peeling and chopping vegetables and tomorrow we will cook them to make into soup.
Can you think of different ways to get exercise? Do you like running, jumping, swimming or riding your bike or scooter. Talk to the grown ups at home about which foods are healthy and which foods we should eat less of.
On Friday the children can bring their bikes or scooters into nursery to use in nursery garden as part of our Keeping Healthy week.
